Innovative system lowers cost for barcode automation applications that also require basic dimensioning

PHILADELPHIA, PA – (February 6, 2012) – Accu-Sort Systems, Inc. will be exhibiting an innovative solution that couples an omnidirectional laser scanner with a measuring system at MODEX 2012, February 6-9, in Atlanta, Georgia. In booth 2312, the company will demonstrate the AccuVision® Basic Dimensioning System, which combines an AXIOM-X™ laser barcode scanner with a RangeFinder™ to provide both barcode and dimensioning data useful in a variety of applications, especially cubing.

Elegantly Simple System Design – Expandable to Meet User Needs

The AXIOM-X omnidirectional laser scanner can read barcodes at any angle on the top of the package, so it’s not necessary to align the packages on the conveyor. Reliable and accurate dimensioning is achieved using the patented RangeFinder technology. Installation does not require any specially trained staff. The system requires virtually no maintenance.

The core system consists of two main components, an AXIOM-X laser barcode scanner and a RangeFinder. The system is flexible enough to allow for expansion to meet the requirements of many unique applications. For instance, in applications where barcodes may also appear on the sides of packages, additional AXIOM or AL5010 line scanners and/or AXIOM-X omnidirectional laser scanners can be added easily, and linked to the main system via Ethernet connectivity without the need for a multiplexer.

A Solution that Addresses Many Applications

The system is used for scanning and dimensioning cuboidal objects transported on belt conveyor systems in the following applications:

• Data capture at receiving or shipping points
• Dimensioning data used for loading requirements
• Parcel distribution (transfer between shipping hubs)
• Infeed to automated palletizing systems
