Accu-Sort Introduces AccuLazr™ AL5010 Laser Barcode Scanner at CeMAT India

First offering from AccuLazr™ brand provides better coverage, ease of use, flexible connectivity, and low total cost of ownership

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (November 22, 2011) – Accu-Sort Systems, Inc., a major supplier of automated ID systems, will premiere the AccuLazr™ AL5010 mid-range laser barcode scanner at CeMAT India, December 6-9, 2011 (booth #2AL 103) in the Bangalore International Exhibit Centre (BIEC). This scanner is designed for automated warehouse applications such as shipping/receiving, track/trace, routing/sortation, production validation, dimensioning, weighing, counting, and labeling/tagging. The AL5010 excels in cost-sensitive industrial applications where high read-rates, accuracy and reliability are a must. Moreover, AL5010’s design makes it easy to install, use, and maintain.

Available in three models; standard line, fixed raster and adjustable raster, the AL5010 barcode system features ensure the lowest cost of ownership while providing the flexibility to use the system in a wide range of auto-ID applications. These features include read rates up to 100% accuracy for Grade A labels and a large depth of field without a need for a focusing mechanism. The fixed and adjustable raster versions are particularly useful in stop-and-scan applications where products are presented to the barcode scanner as well as those applications reading over a larger area when barcode label placement is not controlled. 

All AccuLazr AL5010 scanners also utilize DRX®, Accu-Sort’s proprietary barcode data reconstruction technology, to enhance the scanners ability to read small, dirty and damaged barcodes, such as those located on the sides of reusable totes or in the bead area of automotive tires. This also extends the system’s capabilities to difficult barcode orientations, allowing side-read scanning and multi-sided scanning on conveyors moving at up to 500 feet/minute – without pre-alignment of the bar-coded item.

Designed for Cost Containment 

The AL5010 minimizes costs by simplifying installation and operation. It installs easily because of its compact size, multiplexor-free design, and optional Interface Modules that make wiring convenient. Users save time during operation as well, by easily adding barcodes from new vendors using the ‘Learn Bar Code’ function of the browser-based user interface.

Accu-Sort’s new scanner also reduces maintenance costs. There are no fans or filters that might wear or need replacement, making the scanner maintenance-free. High reliability (greater than 50,000 hours MTBF at 25˚C) dramatically reduces the risk of costly downtime, even in challenging industrial environments. In the unlikely event of a scan head failure, the scanner’s modular design speeds repair: a non-technical worker can replace a scan head in five minutes and restore parameters at the touch of a button.

Flexible Connectivity

To support a variety of applications and network environments, the AL5010 barcode system allows for flexible connectivity. The scanner has a high-density 15-pin connector and built-in Ethernet-EtherNet/IP. Optional interface modules provide more connection choices. The Basic Interface Module includes power, scanner and trigger inputs, as well as Ethernet-EtherNet/IP and two RS232/422 serial ports. The Enhanced Interface Module adds a tach input and up to four optional I/O modules. DeviceNet/Profibus are also available as plug-ins for the enhanced interface. In applications where barcodes appear on several sides of products, a multi-sided scanning array is easily configured using a controller/client network.
