New 36-page handbook
“Auto ID in the Material Handling Industry”
is a convenient reference for experienced engineers
and a great primer for those new to auto-ID.
It offers a comprehensive overview of technologies
used in auto-ID systems, including bar coding
and RFID applications.
Lots of vendors will tell you their material handling equipment is ready to "plug and play." But the reality is, there will still be a need for systems integrators for a long time to come.
Accu-Sort Systems has undergone a complete makeover since being acquired. President Gregg Branning tells Keith Regan how the new corporate DNA has changed the company for the better.
Pittsburgh International Airport installed 8 baggage identification and sorting arrays using AXIOM™ linear laser scanners and AXIOM-X™ omnidirectional laser scanners. The Accu-Sort laser-scanning installation has improved read rate to more than 90 percent from 62 to 65 percent, drastically reducing manual handling of baggage, reducing labor costs and improving passenger satisfaction.

Accu-Sort Systems, Inc. introduces the AccuVision® HandsFree"! CCD camera and decoder that offer a low-cost solution and allow for greater processing rates in applications where packages are now scanned by hand.
Accu-Sort Systems now offers FAST Monitor, software that monitors and diagnoses potential issues that affect scanners in sortation systems so that maintenance managers can react quickly and minimize downtime.
The new AXIOM-X bar-code scanner from Accu-Sort Systems is built on a modular system that provides higher read rates, greater flexibility and lower total cost of ownership than previous systems. And it does so in a compact, maintenance-free design.
Accu-Sort Systems, Inc. introduces the AccuVision MiniCam CMOS camera and decoder that offers the accuracy of a camera at the price of a laser scanner. With a read rate of 99 percent (compared to 90-96 percent for lasers), quick set-up and low maintenance, MiniCam provides the lowest total cost of ownership of any bar code scanning option.
